Rear beam removal

  1. Hi all

Just wondered how easy/difficult it is to remove the rear beam on a 225?

    Any guides?

Could I do it on the drive if using axle stands and a jack??

    Cheers

    Hi
Yes you can do it on the drive, not a bad job, i found the easiest way to get it down, would be to remove springs and shocks and then lift the rear end of the beam, then pull the bolts out.
If you let the beam drop it twists the bolts and that makes them a bitch to get out, also when refitting you need to do the same, get the bolts back in then pull down to get the springs and shocks back in.

Don't forget you need to remove the hand brake cables and the flexi brake pipes, that means bleeding them after its all back together.

  3. Thanks for the input Ian, much appreciated mate.

Doesnt sound a bad job really. Want to replace the bushes in it etc and have it powder coated in satin black again.

So basically once ive got the shocks & springs out I take the weight of the beam with a jack, remove bolts then lower it down and the reverse when putting it back??

    Cheers bud.
