R26 Read oil temp via OBD?

  1. Hi,

Is there any way of reading the oil temperature on an R26 via the OBD port? I've got the Torque Pro app but isn't showing. I presume the car doesn't have a proper oil temperature sensor as standard?

If not how are people monitoring their oil temp? Standalone gauge with the sensor in an oil filter sandwich plate?

    Cheers

  2. Yeah, there's no sensor as standard.

You'd either need to use a sensor on a sandwich plate like you said or a pickup from the sump/sump plug.

  3. Cheers for confirming what I thought. Not keen on reading the temperature from the sump so will pick up a sandwich plate.

  4. Sandwich plate and prosport sensor & gauge, purchased from rspec performance I think.

  5. Remove the glove box (there's a guide on here) and then you'll see a big rubber grommet that goes through the bulkhead.

  6. Excellent, thanks
