Re-Map in Norwich

Discussion in 'Mechanical - Engine, Gearbox, Exhaust etc' started by Justinb42, Jan 31, 2014.

  1. I want to get my car mapped but don't want to drive to Leeds, any reviews of ones in Norwich and what I need to do to have a stage 1/2?

    Cheers all

  2. You can try tour de force at kimbolton, Bedford way on. They use the Rs tuning maps.
    Lee

  3. Matt at TDF is sound, apparently hard to get hold of though! Or get a remote box and save the fuel.

  4. I went to TDF for my cambelt and other associated bits a couple years back (couldn't afford map also!). I thought they focused more on the racing side of things now though?!

  5. if you can't go and see Paul I wouldn't bother mapping it at all

  6. That's what I'm debating about. I
Might just get clutch sorted this time round (as slipping) and then upgrade when I have time to drive to RST. I'll try TDF as i know they used to have maps from RST?

From what I found on here though Leeds is my best bet

  7. What about APT in Norwich?

  8. I've tried to contact TDF about getting my 250 remapped and never heard anything back. But as justinb42 says, I think they concentrate more on the racing side of things now. If you do manage to get hold of them and get a price could you let me know?? I'd be interested in getting mine done by them!

  9. Just sent them a message online so'll keep you posted.

  10. Thanks for that. Might. Be worth ringing them to. If you do manage to speak to them or hear anything back. See if you can get a discount if we both get it done at the same time?

  11. I called TDF a few months ago and was told they dont do remaps anymore!

  12. ????? U on commission ???

  13. Lots of us have been around a while and seen the mess other people make of a map

  14. Plus, it's not often people give good feedback on a company! Trust me, I work in a complaints department!

I've just had my car mapped by Paul, wouldn't hesitate to say, if you want a proper job, go to him!

  15. I agree some right cowboys out there but to state to not have it mapped at all unless going to rst.....????

  16. Maybe because his been developing maps for all various types of F4R lumps for years, runof the mill mapping companies map them like any other engine which end up not being good maps.

  17. There are good reveiews of Henk too. That at the moment summarises the 2 people who are rated as knowing what they're doing. If it was that easy, loads of places would be doing it. So you have to think, if there are loads of tuners, but very few who have proven experience of the megane, doesn't that answer the question?

  18. It's not that I don't want to drive to see this Paul fella. I would love to drive to RS Tuning (with shed loads more cash) and say I want as many horses and torques as possible (in an ideal money no object kind of world), however for a stage 1 with a little boy and a missus who isn't so well herself, think seems a bit far (4 hours each way) therefore wondered if somewhere closer. As this is what most people recommend I think I might hold off for the interim until I am able to head to Leeds. I'll keep telling myself I'm saving the pennies. :worried:

  19. I was reading another thread on here and it had a link to the other megane forum which was highlighting the engine failures on these cars about 2 years ago.
It had all the facts about what had happened to each individual car and what spec they were running just before they went bang and the one thing they all had in common was all of them had been remapped at RS tuning and some running high torque figures.
Sounds to me you pay your money and take your chances wherever you go.

  20. So you are associating high torque and bent rods ?

That is a correct association , but nothing that isn't known.

Its commonly accepted that >300ibft bends the rods. It tends to be on cars with decats due to the huge torque increase in a short rev band.

It doesnt appear to happen any more. My first map when I got the car was running 1.2bhp more than standard and sub 10 AFR. Thats dangerous. I took it to Paul and gained torque , power and a better AFR. I have done nearly 22000mi in the car since.

There are no chances at RS Tuning, none at all. Paul is a respected tuner with a great record.

  21. Surely then, Wouldn't the ideal answer be new rods to reduce the risk?!

What about Ktec, heard good -very good things- about them also.
