I fitted my CL RC5+ front brakes today to my RS 250 and am very impressed, can't believe the difference, my brakes now feel how I thought the big Bembos should feel, I can stand my stand car on its nose the difference to standard pads is night and day, pedal feel is much better, and only took and hour to change including getting a stuck on wheel off. They are quiet as OEM when braking normally, but quite loud when braking hard, not squeely at all but loud humming/thrumming noise that gets louder the harder you press the pedal, guessing from the harder compound and grooved discs.
I ran them with plain discs and didn't have any noise apart from the odd squeal under light braking. Very good pads though.
Fantastic hybrid road/track pad, they'd be perfect except for chronic mess they'll leave on your wheels. Literally 5 minutes after cleaning they'll be covered in bronze dust. I did manage to fade a set in my 197 at Snetterton though
Doubt you'd get them to fade, they can cope with 1000 degree temps. It'll be your fluid that goes first.
Well I felt what I felt and that was the brakes fading, in my understanding if the fluid boils the brakes will remain spongy due to the introduction of air in the system requiring bleeding whereas overheated pads once cooled will regain their performance. Couple slow laps and they were fine again. Also later fitted RC6 and no such problems!
I've never had that much dust from them, they make a bit of a mess if you're hammering it but nothing worse than any other pad I've used.
Also have these fitted, great pad. Once they've had a proper toasting the squeel doesn't come back. Mine were dusty at the start but are fine now.
I have to laugh when people complain about the dust a relatively mild pad like the RC5 give out when compared to a proper aggressive compound. My carbotechs have ruined my wheels so much so they need a refurbished LOL
