Range indicator (RS265)

  1. WTF is that all about, it gets to 30miles or 45 miles and then it goes to '--'. Am I nearly out of fuel or what? My SAAB went all the way done to zero in single mileage increments.

  2. I noticed this over the weekend. Went to '--' after 40 miles left for me. Decided not to risk it anymore so filled up.
I should have checked how may litres it took to fill, then I could have world out how much was actually left.
What is the capacity of the tank by the way?
Another thing that bugs me on the trip computer is the lack of current mpg. I only have trip mpg even though the manual says both should be there.

  3. My R26 does this as well. At around 30 miles left, it just goes blank. I'm fairly sure the fuel tank is 60 litres in the mk2, not sure if its the same in the mk3

  4. Ok, just need to work out how much is really left. Who's going to volunteer to find out!

  5. I think most renault's do that, at least that's what I hear... it should show current mpg, my 250 shows current Liters/100km, although the standard in Denmark is actually km/Liter (no country/language setting for Denmark on the car - don't think they bothered doing the settings for Denmark, considering the number of cars sold).

  6. My 197 did this and would still go for the 30 miles left. The 275 does that (---) at the same and will go but haven't had the guts to push it the full 30 yet.

  7. Why would you want to go less than 30 miles ? Not worth the risk IMO. Just put fuel in

  8. my friend damaged his fuel pump because it ran dry, so i wouldnt recommend doing this

  9. I drove past a petrol station around Carlisle in the megane last year not paying attention and 2mins later the fuel light came on, range went blank and I had to do 47miles just to get momentum. So it will go a fair distance.

  10. Yeah they all do it - a Renault thing - 2 Meagnes and 3 Clios have done it.

I think the designers couldn't make it 100% accurate when the level is that low so to avoid criticism from owners running out when they car said they should have 2 miles left, they kill the readout at<40 miles.

Makes sense to me, and as somebody else said, just put fuel in already!

  11. Bladesblood I used to do 80-90 miles a day and after a 13 hour shift if I wasn't paying attention then the fuel light would scare me aware and I'd have to drive nearly the full 30 miles to get to fuel. I'd go through a tank of petrol every 3/4 days when on shift so it's an easy thing to miss over the 3 years I owned the 197 and lived so far out.
I've only had the low fuel warning once on the Megane but I was by the garage at work so just filled it there.
