Rally GB

  1. I normally do a trip to see the F1 once a year, but this year I've finally had enough due to silly rule changes including the comedy that is last race double points!

For a change I'm going to Le Mans and BTCC but I've also been eyeing up the Rally GB. Only thing that struck me though is the tickets are £100!

Ive always been fond of rally and would love to see it live, but I wondered if anyone else had been and what it's like as an experience. I can't help but think it's £100 to get p*ss wet through in Wales while a few cars to past....... At least on a circuit they come back round!

I'd love to get an opinion from some one who's been

  2. £100?! Is that a weekend pass? I went with my dad on the Sunday, was about £50 for the pair of us. Great day out - great atmosphere, good weather. Best bet is to get to an early stage, then go to another later on in the day.

  3. It described it as:

"Available only to spectators buying their tickets in advance of the event, the World Rally Pass costs just £99* and gives the ultimate in terms of freedom of choice of access to ALL spectator car parks and stages on all days of the Rally, including Shakedown / Qualifying and the Deeside Service Park, meaning loyal fans can plan their rally itinerary closer to the event including the specific car parks and stages they wish to visit."

£50 for both seems way more reasonable! Wonder if they'll release more tickets closer to the time as the stages still show as "TBC".

Did you just do the day or stop over at night? I imagine it gets pretty busy.

Up until last year, me and a few mates had been going for years. It's a great experience, would highly recommend it.

Only reason we didn't go last year was because the prices have increased. It used to be £15 for access to a stage, but last year that increased to £25, which still isn't bad but quite an increase to what we had previously paid.

The way we did it, was to just turn up to the stage we wanted on the day and pay at the gate. That means you can go onto another stage later in the day, or you can see them come through again if it's a stage they do two runs through.

  5. I used to go loads when I was younger. The last time was when I drove my dad's Impreza Turbo. We would go early and follow as many stages through the rally as possible. We would in general watch the first 10-20 cars go through then move on to the next stage or the one after that.

The atmosphere is brilliant and if you get to a service park the drivers are friendly and actually want to meet their fans.

  6. I think this sounds the most appealing way to do it. A tenner is a quite an increase, especially when you think thats per person and if you plan on doing more than one stage it all adds up.

Are the stages quite close then if you're able to do that Andy?

  7. Some were. The last time I went was about 12years ago.

As I said watch the first 10-20 cars go through. If they are making it to the next stage so could you and you should have time to walk in to a decent position. Some times you do have to drive quite "briskly".
