Last Thursday i visited these two bases as a B1-B Lancer from Ellsworth AFB South Dakota USA diverted into Mildenhall due to air-air refueling issues. Here's some pics: 1. Pretty dull start, Which was a shame really as there was a fair few movements. C17 arrival by Nick Collins R.S. Photography, on Flickr C17 arriving at RAF Mildenhall by Nick Collins R.S. I have just been out to the middle East with the military. Had a tour round a b1-b. What an amazing bit of air power it is!
Nice on mate I'm posted off to Honington in April for my sins. I can taste the sick in my mouth already......
15sqn and 4001 flight. Left in 2004. Ah , you are para ? Been doing GDT? They binned alot of the stuff I used to do. No more real NBC and all that jazz.
Is it that bad? I suppose it's like me going back to Cosford! Honington isn't far from here, should try and sort a meet for people in the area!
When I was there it was a non active airbase , with 1500 Rock apes. Nowt around other than thugford and BSE which was shite. Takes an age to get anywhere ..
Behave man ! Needs one accident to wreck the route west. Spent many a hour on there unfortunatly. In the end used to get the train. At least could have a beverage at the station
Promo eh ! ?? get those TAT done. Stanton aint bad. Big firing range there IIRC. Now got my own IT company - GiraffeIT.com
Great pictures Nick as usual. Love the B-1. I remember seeing it literally blowing people away at the air tattoo when it was hosted at Cottesmore! Edit: video link here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iVdUi-8F8P0&feature=youtube_gdata_player
Very nice photos Nick. I never missed an airshow at Mildenhall between 1988 and its demise in 2001. The B1 was always good for setting off all the car alarms (the few times it was there), but the Vulcan was better. It was always a great day out and I miss it a lot. The reduction / cessation of U.S. airshows is reason enough, in my opinion, for the war on torrorists
