Hey, I was playing around with the radio a lot this weekend taking hi line to my amp (resulted in terrible alternator and ignition noise, problem for another day). One of the things I did was install a power filter on the 12v permanent live to the head unit. Quickly established this did nothing so removed it to make the head unit fit easier. Now, since doing this I've lost 12v on the permanent - completely dead. Stupidly I was working on it live so have probably / hopefully blown a fuse. When I looked for the fuse I realised the book doesn't line up with the actual fuse box. There is no fuse whatsoever in the slot that is supposed to be for the radio. I decided to check every fuse in the glove box and every fuse under the bonnet.... none were blown. Does anybody know where the fuse for the radio actually is? Ideally I'd like to check continuity between the fusebox and the headunit. A wiring diagram would be massively useful if these are available anywhere?
I got it!! Turns out my fuse inspection wasn't as good as it could have been. I overlooked a fuse in the glove box hidden by my inline splice. I've attached an image showing my interpretation of what the manual is actually showing you. I believe it tries to show only the ones accessible without removing the glove box. Radio fuse is also labelled, hopefully this will help someone in the future as I couldn't find anywhere which could tell me! I've been naughty and temporarily put a 30A in because I currently don't have a 20A - not recommended!! My car is a 250 non cup with a radiosat paired with a tomtom carminat for reference. Now on to finding out what is causing this horrible noise through my speakers....
