looking at getting one of these anybody know anywhere around midlands thats decent to get it sprayed. I have a black megane 225 and was looking to get this colour matched. spoke with a few places who want £150 for painting which i think is quite expensive? Spray shack want £267 roughly for supply/paint box up and send insured delivery to me. but then the carbon fibre one is cheaper than this? does it have to be sprayed in the same colour code or will black do?
im in leicester so it not too far but would you know roughly how much? would they match the paint code or is this not necessary?
£150 is about the right price, if the spoiler is new there is a lot of work to be done to make it look ok !
They would match the paint mate, impact body shop do a lot of insurance work, I know the owner quite well as I've done a lot of work on his house, I would of thought around £80 as one of the guys will do it on the side mate
150quid is spot on I think for a good job. Its not untill u spray something yourself u realise how much time is involved!
Apparently it doesn't come primed from Renault, i understand that you are paying for labour but really £150 for spraying a spoiler when all you do all day is spray items. My friend has had a rear bumper sprayed for £119 with 5 year warranty by midlands car care. the spoiler isn't so big? is the Ktec carbon one any good? as this works out cheaper? Although i think i would prefer the spoiler to match the colour of the car.
The k-tec ones come with a 1 month warranty and shortly afterwards the laquer starts peeling / going milky from what i've read. There was a member on here Shymek i think? Who's from poland he was selling some carbon fibre spoilers he made himself
I have have just payed 130 to have mine done in black, this was about average after getting a few prices. I had a Renault spoiler which does not come primed.
Thats correct. The KTEC ones dont have any UV protection on them. The chap from Polands looked excellent TBH.
right maybe ill forget the k-tec one then. i remember reading about shymek but dont believe he has any for sale at moment cant find any on ebay. think i will look to get it colour matched and just have to bite the bullet i know its worth it in the end when its on the car.
At the end of the day if you want it doing right your going to have to pay for it. The genuine spoilers come in a poor state with lots of pin holes and filler in them, and that means you can't bake them off at full temperature. All in all their is about 4 hrs labour involved + leaving over night to dry 1 time for the primer and 1 for the paint.
He may not be interested in doing it remotely, but I would wholeheartedly recommend the work of Repair and Restore Body Shop (smithandroper). They did a cracking job on my car!
To supply and paint a genuine spoiler would be about £240 + postage. Also thanks for the comments Craig
I'm about to receive this back from spray shack. Right anybody in and around Leicester who could fit this for me or know someone that could? Hoping to get it on by the weekend
