Having purchased my R26R in 2012, it has spent many years sitting outside not being used and frankly getting into a terrible state. I think 2014 was the last time she was used properly. So I’ve had a mini restore done, mechanically and cosmetically, by the brilliant Race and Competition Engineering team in Hawley, Sussex. Car is looking and going superbly well. Amazing work on various surfaces including paint work. New decals. Replacing gel coat perfectly on carbon fibre items. Belts done. Heavily corroded brakes completely cleaned up, bells and discs. Various bits of cosmetic corrosion in various places taken care of properly. Ain’t she a beaut?
Real. Have been on the car for years. But the gel coat had blistered and peeled. The guy who did the gel coating and restore on the paintwork works absolute magic.
I will - tomorrow! Does anyone know where to get real replacement plastic rear/rear side windows? I don't mean the clear aftermarket ones with the dark edges, I want actual real ones. Have they ever been available?
They're available from the hens teeth shop, normally on the shelf between the unicorn poo and the blood from stones!
I have to say, I drove the car today. OMG it is soooo good. I had a 275 Trophy-R and still have a track-prepped 250 (well 325) old dog kept at the 'Ring. But the way R26R rides is amazing. So good on the power (Vibra Technics engine mounts help to reduce vibration a lot) and the brakes OMG!!!
Yes. They are the performance friction 330mm discs. They’re not new, they’ve got plenty of miles on them. They work well. I believe 330mm is as big as you can go without fitting new calipers and fittings as well. There are ways of going to 350 if not 360mm. I have brake cooling ducts and hoses and titanium heat shield plates between the pistons and the pads.
