R26 switched 12v supply for drl

  1. Hi Just fitted some combined front fog and Angel eye DRLs, but the final thing is a 12v switched supply. Anyone know the easiest source to tap into? Or do I need to get into the fuse box?
    Thanks.

  2. Thought I'd use the wiper motor feed as I did on my VX220 but with the drl connected I only get 4V which isn't enough for the lights or the wipers, so need to find another feed. So I guess it' either glove box out and come through the bulkhead or remove the battery/Ecu/airbox.( at least my scuttle drains have been cleaned today, even if I still haven't finished. Duolight DRLs look gone on though.

  4. I tapped from the cigarette lighter socket to source the DVRs, the guages and the radar detector

MilosB and engine killer like this.
  6. There are specific Looms available for after-market DRLs they need just be connected to the battery and one Headlight , or Sidelight, so do not require a switched feed, and / or access through the firewall.

They work on the principle that the available battery voltage varies if the engine is running or stopped,

When the engine starts the lights come on and when the engine stops they switch off after a short delay. The connection to one of the lighting circuits is so that the DRL's dip at night, (This is included in the usage regs for New Vehicles, but not currently enforced for after-market fitting)
