R26 - Rust on boot lid

  1. Iva got it.

  2. Evening All

As promised, here's an update of the warranty claim Re. corrosion on the tailgate.

Renault's "paint specialist" came to view my R26 on 8 March. Unfortunately, Renault have again told me to get lost. They have rejected my claim for the second time which, to be honest has left me a little disheartened about the whole situation.

Renault refused to allow me to speak with their paint specialist based on the fact that he is not client facing and, he doesn't deal with the general public. The paint specialist was running 2 hours late in getting to the dealership where my car was sat waiting for him to inspect the tailgate. Ufortunately I couldn't wait around any longer due to work commitments.

I have today requested the engineers report from RUK as I'm in the process of taking my complaint to the ombudsman.

Rebecca Pightling, RUK's Customer Support Manager very kindly shared the engineers report as to why my warranty claim has been rejected and, the reason for the corrosion on the tailgate. If you're having a bad day, this will cheer you up...

"It has been concluded that the issue with your paint has not been caused by manufacturing defect but appears to have been caused by water".

Now, I'm no expert when it comes to bodywork or paint, but I'm certainly not naive. If RUK honestly think that this is a plausible excuse, they are obviously having a laugh at my expense.

Apologies for the rant, but I feel as though I've been completely screwed by RUK. My car has always been serviced at a main Renault dealership and I have always played by the rules when it comes to warranty.

    Cheers
    Sam

  3. I wouldnt worry too much they all do it, the plastic trim rubs on the paint and over time it rubs through to the metal
i got mine sorted at a bodyshop they only charged me 40-60 pounds as i stripped all the trim off, which i might add is easy
the thing people need to do is stop this happening again , i used some small pieces of sticky back draft excluder to stop the contact areas doing this again
