All, Does anyone know where I can get oem R26 springs? I'm not interested in h&r or cooksports as I wish to remain as stock as possible for now. I'm aware they're Eibach but not sure if they are the same as the pro kits? Any help appreciated!
They cost more than aftermarket springs so just be prepared. I cant remember off the top of my head what Adam quoted me but they were more expensive than Cooksports even with his discount.
Ah right cheers, are they a Renault only product or can they be bought elsewhere? I'm tempted by the Eibach pro kit, is there much difference?
I've been wanting new springs aswell, iirc they were 102 each from Reno with ads discount. Eibach pro seem like a better deal but they lower the car 25mm which I don't want as the splitter is just high enough for kerbs with oem
I'm the same, I don't need them yet but I've heard they're prone to snapping, so I'm wanting to know where they can be bought from. Maybe second hand is the way to go when the time comes. So in terms of the oem vs pro kit, the only difference is 25mm lower ride height? Many people say the r26 is well sorted from the factory and I don't want to upset the balance of the car, so far I haven't seen anywhere to buy oem Eibach springs, so it looks like it'll be Renault or second hand when the time comes!
The pro kit is slightly lower than oem eibach springs but there also 50% softer than oem cup springs! Not an upgrade, unless your just after lowz
Didn't know the pro kit was softer tbf, if that's the case I may have to go for the oem, always thought the standard set up was fantastic so don't see the point in changing that
Renault would have set the cars up properly. At the very least the springs and dampers would be matched for frequency. Be careful if you move from stock to a modified spring and keep it on oe dampers. Usually when people modify cars and change springs they fit lower and stiffer springs which the original dampers can't control and you get a bouncy , choppy and skittish ride. Under damped. Over damped is where you've got a soft spring for the damper fitted which is fine on certain setups at certain speeds and certain road surfaces. However you won't get away with it in the real world and you'll find the spring resists natural movement and you'll be in a position where the tyre is literally leaving the road and not returning fast enough. From here you'll end up with all sorts of issues. In other words changing one and not changing the other (for a correctly matched item) is unwise. That's why some people love adjustable dampers, they can swap springs and easily adjust the rebound/stiffness to suit. From the positive reviews that cooksports get, they must have matched them well to the oe damper. Of course dampers degrade over time, so partially worn out oe dampers may suit the softer pro eibach springs if they are indeed softer but it sounds like a compromise setup.
this is why I stay away from the world of modifications, can open a can of worms and become very complicated.
