Quick Favour Needed

  1. Is anyone close by their 225/230/R26/R and able to measure the distance from the top of the windscreen to the top of the "swept area" of the wipers?
As I understand it, this is the area in which it's legal to have an anti-glare strip fitted.

BTW, I'm not a about to do this!

There's a small stone chip at the top of my windscreen which, though filled, is still visible and always bugs me. I thought a plain black or graduated sun strip might be a neat way to cover it?

See that would still piss me off even if I had the strip.

    New window time!

  3. Don't get me started Daz! I'm spending more than enough cash on her at the moment - a whole new windscreen to rectify a very small, filled chip is waaay down my list!

£70 excess on the screen isn't sooooooo bad?

  5. They didn't offer a new screen as the chip was small and not cracked. Plus I've heard some horror stories about the big name windscreen repair companies doing very shoddy work and causing more damage than they fix.

Anyway, none of this is helping me figure out what depth of strip I can get away with... or do you think it would just look naff?

50mm is the smallest gap in the centre left area. That's window rubber to point of wiper.

  7. Cheers R26,
That's all? Hmmm, so basically every sun strip out there is, strictly speaking, an MOT fail.
I'm pretty sure the law takes a dim view (no pun intended) of anything that obstructs vision in the area swept by the wipers.

    Install smaller wipers. ;-)

  9. I like your thinking
