Hi, After my 350z recently gave up its big ends, I'm looking at megane renaultsports - fancy something a little more practical yet fun! I'm Midlands based and my budget is around £4500, really after a cup chassis. Check the usual suspects. Belts must be done. Swivel bearings must be done. Well if still ok and self centering then no worries. Window regs ok. Any mods been mapped in. And check if it's wet in pas foot well box. Scuttles could be blocked But if your buying it from and enthusiast then all should be good.
Great, thanks! I'm no longer going to view this as it had a couple of undisclosed dents. Undecided about getting a lower mileage trophy or holding out for a facelift cup model. thanks for advice anyway!
If you could stretch to a R26,this is the model of choice..it has the LSD and further chassis tweaks to make it the best handling mk2
I'd love and R26 but can't justify the spend really! Looked at an F1 earlier at a dealers - absolute junk! (Avoid all cars at driveline sports and performance in Birmingham, they are awful! Dirty, damp, shoved in corners, door wouldn't latch shut, yet described as pristine!) I think I'll hold out and wait for an F1 or a later cup, ideally with lux.
I've got a Trophy and love it. I would love an R26 but cannot afford it. I would just say get one that has had belts done, check clutch is decent as thats quite expensive
all pre 2006 cars are going to be getting tired by now...just keep your eye on the for sale section on here. Most of the time,if people can be bothered to join a club,they are more likely to look after a car. Some real gems have turned up on here over the years...I bought my car from this sites predecessor.
Got myself a low mileage 225 F1 team, 62k and paid £4.5, pretty pleased! Cruised back and it did 39mpg, very impressed with that! It needs a couple of things (Including horrible carbon effect wrap removing from the roof - why do people do this?!); - Needs a new gear knob insert (I can't find a standard style anywhere, not replacing the whole knob though - any ideas?) - Only came with 1 key card - anyone around the midlands supply and code them at a good price? - Passenger window is dead, I've read this is common! - Need to fit my double din stereo - which harness adapted do I need? Just the one adapt or plus a patch lead? Thanks, Toby
