R26 Properfekt

  1. Hi, I have just bought a Properfekt recirculating valve and wondered what spring I should use for a mapped car with stage 1 modifications? Should I use the valve fitted or the one that comes spare?

  2. Not sure but mine is stage 1 and I'm using the one that came fitted. Seems to work fine.

  3. Ok thanks, will see how I get on with it as it is

  4. Just keep the one that's already in there. Although I dont think it matters which one you use [emoji108]

  5. Thanks Gents, going to leave it alone. Fitted now but not used the car yet, not that I'm expecting any change

  6. The point of the different springs is to allow using a stiffer one if the valve causes a boost leak. However, a stiffer spring will, in a way, reduce the effective operating range of the valve, but is necessery to use if the softer spring doesn't hold the kind of boost pressure you are running. Again, in a way, softer spring is better because it allows more breathing through the valve even under lower vacuum conditions (inlet manifold vacuum that is). But if it leaks boost then you can't take advantage of that and curing any boost leak is the priority.

The difficult part is to determine whether or not you have a small boost leak on the valve or not... You won't hear it if it's small and you may not notice it in terms of lost performance either. If there are any indications by the manufacturer about the pressure ranges of each spring, that would help of course.

  7. Thanks for that insightful post. Interesting to know that information
