Hi All, I am looking at potentially removing back to Renault Sport (I have previously had a Clio 197). I'm looking at a 2008 R26 and wondered whether there are any major issues to look out for? The cam belt caught me out on the Clio not because of it's mileage but because of it's age. Anyway Hi and any info would be great. Thanks James
Nothing major to worry about. Belt service is around 400. Assuming its standard with no mods? Just watch out for crappy remaps that will cause det. Just check the usual stuff and make sure all the electrics work.
Most parts have become cheaper now. Driveshafts used to be silly money but have come down a little lately.
Thanks for the reply. At what age/mileage should a cam belt be sorted? I haven't found 'the one' yet but I'll be going for a standard one.
There aren't many major typical problems although meganes can suffer from hub bearings going window regulators go for one that's been looked after and u should fe fine I believe cam belt is 72000 mile service nog sure what age welcome along
It's six years or 72000 for the cam belt, £400 odd to change. Check all electronics and buy in condition and mileage. Clogged fuel injectors and iffy window regulators are the most common problems I can think of. I heard the standard exhausts are bad for rusting so one with a stainless system won't be a bad thing.
Thank you mate. I keep threatening to come back to an RS but haven't made the move yet. The fact is the MINI just isn't cutting it. I love the spec etc but doesn't put a smile on my face like the 197 used to.
