Possible Gearbox mount

  1. So a while ago my car started vibrating alot, seems to run really rough, can feel it in the pedals even. Also it makes the odd clang noise in certain gears, particularly 1st and reverse. when slowly lifting the clutch you can also hear the exhaust rattling nearer the back. I have barely driven it because of this and after reading online through forums I'm worried it is the gearbox mount. tried taking the battery cover out but after undoing every bolt including the ecu ones it was stuck down in the bottom right corner where the ECU wiring is and i couldn't budge it.
Has anyone got any advice on this? My next step is to take it to a garage to make sure it is this that is causing the issue, but would rather avoid a normal garage and go to a specialist really

  2. you may have miss the 10mm bolt under and to left of ECU, disconnect the three multi pins and maybe see the bolt better,
once battery and tray are out way check the plastic bridge across the gearbox that terminates the two gear cables, that maybe cracked at one or both ends where its bolted to gearbox

  3. Think I got that one, was where the three multi pins are that the cover seemed to be stuck, will have another crack at it in the week. Thinking it might be the cable ties holding it down if there is no bolt there?

  4. One of those 10mm bolts goes through the battery tray and secures a plastic cable guide under the tray. That guide carriers two red hi power cables under the battery and the whole piece is right faff alining when reassembling, yes there are some cable ties securing the multi pin connections and deffo don’t need replacing its hard enough putting it all back together as is.

  5. Just to let anyone who might have the same symptoms as me it was the gearbox mount that had been sheared in two
All being taken care of now
