Guessing most track day people will be using 18's but this price is incredibly cheap! The Trofeo R is apparently significantly quicker than a cup 2. https://www.tyreleader.co.uk/car-tyres/pirelli/pzero-trofeo-r/235-35-zr19-91y-192538
I'm quite tempted. Problem is I can't see them staying at this price. The same tyre in 18 is £100 more so doesn't make sense.
Like I needed encouragement lol! Grrr what to do... need tyres but was going to get 18 wheels and tyres.. and adjustable camber.. then getting them fitted and the car aligned again and I've spent £££'s... again..
buy them, by the time you get your adjustable plates and fit them, then gives you bit more time to sort a set of 18's, simples
- can anyone tell me when fitting the camber plates does it make the front ride higher? That wouldn't be good..
Camber plates wont make it ride any higher, it will just put a fraction more weight on the inner edge of the tyre because it brings the top of the wheel in
That price is amazing! Quicker than a Cup2 but they wear 3x quicker. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Have you any direct experience of this tyre? I'm doing a bit of research and it does seem it wears out quicker than the cup 2 but 3x?? The wear thing is putting me off.. AD08R's are about £30 more expensive but will last much much longer... Thinking the trofeo R's might make me think the standard cup suspension isn't up to it either..
You can't really compare them to a Cup 2 TBH, The Cup 2's are more a road biased tyre, The original Cups are the better tyre if you want ultimate grip IMO. Theres also a reason why a lot of the fast stuff at the Ring is on Trofeo-R's...
According to Michelin's own data the Cup 2 has a higher Corning Force than the original Cup and quicker lap times in both wet and dry. The laps were performed with a 997 GT3 and Meg 250 Cup. I don't have first hand experience of the Trofeo-R but I have a few friends who have run them. Admittedly their cars are a fair bit heavier than a Meg.... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Of course they would be though, All my experience of them and seeing data from various friends track/race cars shows the original cups to be the quicker tyre. They compromised on the Cup 2 to make it a bit more useable on the road.
Well, as expected the price is no longer £130... The new price? - £300!!!! About the cup 2's, I've also heard that some find the originals quicker but every scientific test with journalists all suggest the cup 2 is quicker.
Rightly so. Just to add, the Trofeo-R comes will less tread depth than the Cup 2 exacerbating the wear rate when compared to the Cup 2.
