Pick this little one up a few weeks ago, already covered 1,000 miles in it. Found it very easy to drive a long way. after only a few days I started with the changes not sure if I will keep the RS badge or not. The first few things I want to sort are a little boring. Had to change the curise control switches on the wheel as one side had broken. Found a new set on eBay and only a 10 min job to wip the air bag off and swap over. Now have working cruise control. resplaced a few small trim parts that where missing along with the caps in the wheel wells. list of jobs still to do. full outside clean and tidy up, see what shape the bodywork is in. Few marks on the bumpers that may need a body shop visit. new mats, will be getting the RS ones. As the driver side mat is missing refub the wheels or swap them. repaint the brakes as they are starting to flake and crack. Will be keeping them yellow. paint, flock or wrap the centre dash. new radio, probably a CarPlay one. remap
Done a lot of buying little things to tidy the car up, with caps and covers in places you can't see. but have picked up a set of Renault Sport mats. Done some more debadging. Will replace with a new style RS badge at a later date. been after a cubby hole thing to put my phone in and get rid of the 6 disc head unit as it hardly work since I got the car and also got a centre panel for the same prices as the cubby hole, so replaced my scratched and damaged one. Going to wrap it later on so won't look like this for long.
But after spending weeks getting my V5 and all the docs sorted I finial got to put my plate on my car
One of the 1st real jobs that needed to be is a new set of front discs and pads. had notice on the test drive that a disc felt like it was warped and they looked like they seen better days. so ordered up a set of Bembro HC plan discs and Ferdo DS 2500 pads after a number of people suggested that set up. also a set of pins from mrpink. The passenger side pins came out really easy and the pads look almost new, also missing the screws in the disc. This should have started alarm bells. on the other side pulled the pads and saw this pulled the calliper and found the inside set of Pistons had seized (looks like who ever had the car before this know this and put in the pads to hid this) the disc was not much better So had to sent them to be refurbished, used stephenvenning on clio197.net (would highly recommend him) So for the past 2 weeks I've not had a car to drive. they came on Monday and quickly fitted to them to my car. once again I'm back on the road the brakes feel loads better already and they not even bedded in yet
Had a busy week on the megane doing lots of little jobs. clay bared and wax it, also removed the Elf sticker from the rear got some sliver bulbs for the rear and fitted a new Kenwood head unti, did want anything out of this world just enough to have Bluetooth and play my iPod. also warped the centre of the dash
Not done much on the Megane over the past few months. Had a problem which dropped the car into limp home mode and showed injector fault, it did this a number of times over a week. Switching off and back on the car fixed it for a little bit. Ran it into the garage and showed a number of fault codes. The mechanic had a look and found a plastic vacuum pipe had a split and was cursing the car to over boast and he replaced it with a rubber pipe and now all is good. Its just had its MOT today and failed on ball joints on both side. Back in next week to have it sorted. but also fitted a set of black badges and a nice little key ring
Got the ball joints sorted for the MOT by fitting a set for a MK 3 Espace. A lot cheaper then fitting new arms. So the Megane as a full bill of health. Also had a service done as well. So had treated the Megane to a short shift conversion. Was done by a fellow member on here Boardy. Its by far the best mod I've ever had done. makes the gearbox the way it should be. I can't say enough good things about. If you need one doing give Boardy a message he's a top bloke.
It's had a good clean for WSR. but now it's time for it to go. If anyone wants it make me a offer before I px next week.
That's it my Megane as gone, I've driven it for the last time. Had a roller coaster 6 month of ownership of my French hot hatch. And now rocking around in a gen 1 Mini Cooper S
There completely different cars the Mini is light and very nimble, but is a handful to drive. You do notice the drop in power from the Megane and with the supercharger on the Mini the power delivery is different and takes some getting use to. The Megane is better at high speed and is easier to drive long distance
