Just to create a bit of a discussion,is your Meg a pampered pooch, wrapped in cotton wool, dry use only, never tracked eg a show spec ,or a pedal to the metal animal ?
Used and abused. 115k on mine now. Still well looked after and wants for nothing, but I'm not precious about it. Its still only a Megane Don't understand why people buy something like a Megane and only use it as a weekend toy or keep it tucked up, Such a waste. If your getting a weekend toy then do it properly with the likes of a 7 type car or similar.
About sums it up, mines my only car and does everything, skip runs, commuting, not so much track time recently sadly but it's been once or twice. It's cost more than I'd have hoped to keep on the road but hold down the sport button and a few shifts from 4th to 3rd while it cracks and bangs like a rally car...... Not so long ago I was thinking of changing it but I'm still loving it again and wouldn't want it sat in a garage while I pootle around in some dull eco box.
mines pampered and hammered, just need to keep on top of the usual problems with them, awesome cars for the money. By the way, the site is so much better without that twat ruining every thread.
I had a show car once and it was other people who made me realise just how obsessed I was with keeping it mint that I wasn't enjoying the car any more. So now, I like my car clean and well maintained but it's 100% a drivers car to be driven! I think that will be my mentality forever now
Like mine and hammer it, also look after it. But the interior is shit and I would love a 2 seater soft top!
In the urban areas of Sydney I drive it as if I’m in a Bentley. On the track I drive it as if I’ve stolen it. On a quick B road I drive it as if it’s a hire car.
Mine is a daily so gets parked anywhere, does everything and is usually dirty. It's looked after but could probably do with a buff up.
My r26 is only used at weekends on a saturday night when i absolutely love driving it and give it some beans.i look after it better than i do myself and it wants for nothing.its on low miles and it will stay that way as i am lucky enough to have a work van. So my summary concludes mine is pampered.
I go out late evening say 8pm and normally get in at 1am.i go down the lanes and because its late theres nobody on the roads and i can drive to all the speed limits unhindered. I want to do at least a trackday before the years out also. And no i wouldn't street race.lol.round southend theres usually police driving round looking out for that sort of thing
Only joshing. I work shifts so my commute is usually nice and quiet so I can have some fun within the speed limits...
My trophy is not a daily hack but does get some track action and I keep it tip top condition clean and shiny and mechanically perfect got a diesel Megane as daily and that gets shagged sideways
Just left my R26r at Gatwick with the keys so it's probably been hammered over the last week. Sent from my D6603 using Tapatalk
Pampered pooch really. Never any hammer, dry use only, cleaned weekly. To be fair I can barely afford to run it after the birth of my daughter but I refuse to let her go. 5 years of trouble free motoring you just know whatever comes next will be a money pit. No tracks close to me either to give her a good flogging. Shame really not to use it to its full potential, hey ho!
Mines a daily driver. Both the wife and I use it for work. Keep it clean and looked after, it gets a hammering when appropriate. The same as every car I've owned. There to be enjoyed and complete every family task required or the wife will want a people carrier.
I drive my 1.2 Clio beast when it rains................. so I guess my r26 is more in the pampered category.
Seen some bad reports on leaving cars at airports. Seriously put us off. The car stayed on the drive and the keys at my parents when we last went on holiday. Bad enough leaving it with a dealer who is supposed to be looking after your best interests.
Must say, no way in a million years would i leave my car at Airport, even more so giving some muppet my keys
I don't leave it anywhere I can't see it and never in a car park.Trouble is, it just becomes easier to use another car and the Meg stops in the garage covered up,doesn't get used, and end up selling it. Bit pointless really.Said I'd never do it again and I have
I get out on the bike at 6am on a Sunday morning....head off for a full breakfast at 9 am then home. That is a really good time of day/week I have found.
My R26 is used for track but is road registered. It really lives on the trailer otherwise. Any job needed gets sorted pretty quick. I drive it with considered sympathetic reasonable progress on track, it is 10 years old so reliability is important to me. Dare I say it but it is only a Renault (others have said this already) but I really like it and admire the people who take great care of their pride and joy...whatever it is.The R26 gets no worse treatment than my mcars.
I realise you quite liked him/her/It as you would quite often reply to each other's posts and defended on occasions. I for one got fed up with his posting approach as all knowledgeable self proclaimed expert on all matters. Didnt wash with me so very pleased with the decision to kick him off. This site is great for advice and chatting meeting with similar minded folks. Made a few new friends on here and cliosport and we meet up at trackdays and pubs. We dont need twice the posts made up with his googled crap.
Well, yes, people do say "only a Renault",but when the values of the RS range exceed many examples of "prestige" Merc,BMW,etc they are in the same car-park. For what I've just paid for my Meg I could have had a big choice from many of the other dealerships( as we on here already know). Guess we all love the cars that's why we have them and are proud of them
