Paint under "Megane" badge

  1. So I came to debadge the back of my 250 today and I've noticed that the paint underneath the badge is faded?! Or at least a different shade of red, definitely more orange compared to the rest of the car. Could this be because I've gone round the rest with a DAS6, Meguiars #105, #205 and then #21 sealant? I kinda expected the paint under the badge to be better, not worse.

Am I likely to get the paint to match or not?

    Ta!

  2. Its due to a few things -
    1 Sunlight (uv rays)
    2 Polishing it
3 The adhesive from the badge swelling the lacquer

try polishing it with a polishing compound but if that don't work it will req painting!

  3. Thanks,

I guess red is one of the worse colours for it too. When the weather is not so shocking I'll try the same routine as I have on the rest of the car. I'll do one letter at a time as right now it's easy to see where to put them back on

  4. Be UV damage, took mine off last week and that's faded

I'm going to leave it till the spring, might have to put it back on lol

  5. But how can it be UV damage under the badges though?

  6. The damage isn't under the badge it's the rest of the car!

  7. That's what I figured, but the paint under the badge is almost orange, where as the rest of the car is capsicum.

  8. Sounds very odd. Try Scully and Mulder...
