265 Overheating with Wagner Intercooler

  1. Hi Guys,
this thread ist something older, but I would to awake it again. I was amazed about the "flexeo" radiator what Meganechris postet. Is this real? For just 300 € ? The Forge is about 1200....I thought about it, but as already stated, I´ve heard that it doesn´t fit to the Wagner IC. Does anyone try this combo? Probably there are only small mods to clear it....I would first try to fix the water temp with a better radiator what has a more clever design. The water in- and outlet are opposite and are creating a short. On the Forge, you can see from the outside of the water boxes a sheet whats welded in in an steep angle to guide the water first down inside the box what simulates the flow would have the entrance down there. For best efficency, the water entrance and outlet of radiator should be diagonally opposite to level the flow losses all over the radiator area to the same values. Since you can´t move this points on the MRS3, you can design it the way as Forge did what has the same affect. I don´t know if this "flexeo" radiator is similar designed, but from the outside looking I would doubt this. At least, the radiator thickness seems to be increased, maybe the flow design is somewhat better.

Considering the additional weight of an oil cooler ( on the front axle!!!), problems with air flow a.s.o., I would first try to fix the appearently poor radiator design before >I would go to the oil cooler. A much better water rad will decrease the oil temp as well by pulling the oil temp from the heat exchanger.

Any thoughts? This year, I would run my RS3 in Hockenheim again, but this year finally without any chrismas lamps and power losses on the track......

  2. if the Forge radiator has a better design perhaps some mod can be done to it to take in the Wagner IC?
appart from the custom air ducting, to enclose air to go through the IC then condenser and radiator, I haven't tried anything else.

So far it's been good but I can't deny I wish there was a better radiator solution (quality item) that fits the Wagner just fine.

  3. here's the ducting I made..

  4. There should be a ducting what leads the air under the crashbar towards the minor cooled area behind the bar. There is the biggest flow through the rad, at least if you want to keep the original one and try to improve the cooling as good as possible.
