Over-inflated tyre

  1. Hi guys,

So I had 2 new pilot sport 3's fitted yesterday by a local garage recommended thru black circles.

They set the tyres on the front to 32psi so I went to the petrol station this morning to top them up. So it turns out that they actually set the tyre pressure to 57psi!!

I have corrected them now but my concern's are that there may be structure damage to the tyre! The max pressure on the sidewall states 50psi!

Does anyone on here have any knowledge on tyres and if this has damaged my tyres?

I will phoned them later to tell them but I know they will just brush over it and say they will be fine

    Many thanks

  2. Your tyres will be fine. They're designed to take a lot more than what's stated on the side wall. And I'm sure the 50psi max will be with prolonged use so you could run them at 50 all day long. I've seen tyres inflated to over 100psi just to get them to pop on the bead!

  3. Agree with Mike.
Seems someone may have misread the guage and some [3.2 bar] ++

Recommended, full load, eco, motorway, on the petrol filler flap for an old Corsa was 46 psi.
    Cheers Andy

  4. Cheers chaps, just wanted a bit of reassurance.

  5. Lazy tyre fitters. Sounds like they kept inflating til the 2nd bead popped and just threw the valve in without bringing the pressure down.
