Oil sump plug tool?

Discussion in 'Mechanical - Engine, Gearbox, Exhaust etc' started by rTEM, Feb 24, 2016.

  1. What tool is needed to drain the oil?(r26)
Got the car on the ramps, rhino ramps, bumper off job to be able to drive on them, and was not able to get the plug loose. Its square looking hole like from a door handle? Is it a special tool required to get the job done

  2. Assuming it's the same as a ph1 225, it's an 8mm (i think) square drive, I couldn't find my sump plug socket set when i did mine so ended up grinding a socket adapter (1/2" to 3/8") down to an 8mm square, never use the adapters anyway!

EDIT: if you do want to buy the proper tool.. they do sets, like this one:

  5. Couple of quid for the Laser one in Halfords.

Swap it for a Gold Plug magnetic plug when you get a chance. The AP-10 size you want.
