Oil pump chain

  1. Right so I my megs got a tappy/rattly noise. Sounded 100% like a lifter issue so on I went and sorted this out. Checking all other components whilst I was there!

Rebuilt and running the noise was still there so under further inspection the noise was loudest in the sump. Sump removed, splash guard removed and a visual inspection of the rods and a feel for any play in the components I can and everything is fine.

BUT... The chain for the oil pump is baggy as they come. What I was wondering is has anybody suffered the same issue and what entails in changing the full assembly (pump, sprockets and chain).

    Cheers

  2. Chain isn't tight anyway

  3. No I mean excessively baggy to the point I can very nearly pull it over and off the sprocket. It's chewed the teeth on the sprocket and there were a load of filings in the oil

  4. Also excessive play laterally across the sprocket

  5. It's cambelt off time to replace it all

  6. I was hoping there was some wizards way around it. Cheers mate. Job for next week now!
