275 Oil Leak

Discussion in 'Mechanical - Engine, Gearbox, Exhaust etc' started by pick, Jan 7, 2022.

  1. Have noticed oil weeping out of maybe 2 bolts holding in the cam cover. Not a massive amount but there none the less. Anyone know if this is a garage job or can be ' self done ' by loosing the bolts and applying a sealant to them ? Presume it is a garage job as cover holds cams in place on this engine (F4RT). Thanks.

  2. It’s quite common. Just undo one at a time. Apply a high temp silicone then tighten it back down.

  3. Yeah as above this is fairly common, clean the oil around the bolts, loosen them slightly one at a time, add a little Loctite Gasket or similar to the thread and then tighten it back up and do the next one - Be careful as they have to be torqued right 12NM I believe

  4. Thanks for the replies. Was wondering if they needed a certain torque so will have to borrow a torque wrench now lol.
