Hi I decided to service my R26 this weekend, I've worked on dozens of different types of cars from Smarts to classic triumphs to Skoda's and have experience in building a hillclimb triumph dolomite in years past so consider myself a pretty proficient DIY mechanic if not the fastest going. So I dutifully ordered all plugs, filters, oil etc from Opie Oils, drained out the old oil, changed the plugs, fitted a pipercross air filter, whipped off the old oil filter using the stab it with a screwdriver technique feeling very proud of my efforts only to find the new oil filter is about twice the physical size of the old one, and there's no chance in hell that I can see that this fat filter is going to fit in the gap between the block and all the other engine gubbins. You can see what I mean on the pic below. Am I missing something? Is there a secret massive void where I can pass this filter through or am I right in thinking its simply the wrong one - its a MAHLE OC223 and still listes as the correct type according to Opie. Any pointers appreciated.
totaly wrong part, have Opie change for correct item speak to Simon, explain issue, their customer service v good
Thought so, I'll have to source one locally to get me back n the road - lesson learnt - always check what's in the box! Cheers all
