225 Oil cooler or not?

Discussion in 'Mechanical - Engine, Gearbox, Exhaust etc' started by BlueNGT, Mar 3, 2022.

  1. So I will hopefully have the rest of the mechanical parts I wanted to finish my car off (225 F1).

It will be running a 200 Cell Cat, K-Tec 3'' exhaust, Airtec Intercooler, 630 injectors and EFI map (that will be updated whe the intercooler and 200 Cell Cat go on).

Is an Oil Cooler something people fit for track or do they not need one?

    Thanks in advance

The best way to tell really is to fit a oil temp gauge and do a track day and see what temp the oil gets to

  3. I need to fit a sandwich plate for that don't I?

  4. My mates r26 track car runs 332bhp/345lbft all day without oil temps ever getting too high, no oil cooler fitted.

  5. As above fit an oil temp gauge and monitor.

Definitely dont need one for a road car. Im lucky to see 90-100degrees when flogging it a bit, 378hp/345ft/lb.

  6. I had to put one in for summer track days. I replaced the rad first and put in a low temp stat, both helped, but I would still need to come in earlier than I wanted to. I think I'm in a minority though.
