Oil Catch Tank

    I'm doing an engine build at moment and want to add a catch tank as well.

    Unsure of where to locate it though as there isn't much room with standard battery in engine bay.

    Anyone got pics of where they have located their catch tank?

    I don't have battery or standard air box so mine is being fitted next to the master cylinder.

    I am running a smaller Clio 172 battery which gives enough room to mount one.

    I'm going to have a forged engine and don't want any oil going back through the inlet.

    I was thinking of using a race battery and Mocal 1litre in place of standard battery.

    My ITG might be an issue with that as it shifts the battery forward iirc

    I've got a recirc valve so will I need to route that differently as well.

    Sure, it will make sense when i look at it properly.

    Do you know what size hose from the oil separator I'll need? I won't be bothering with AN fittings.

    Nope no idea. I've gone for an fittings so I know they won't bleed or loose vacuum

    I used to run an oil catch tank on my old ITB'd 182, wouldn't believe the amount of muck it collects which would otherwise pass through the engine!

    On the battery tray, but how I'm not sure, maybe using a strap.

    The battery is in but I haven't got round to fitting the catch tank to the battery tray yet.

    Mines fitted yes. It's bolted to the chassis leg.

    I'll get some over the weekend. But it comes from the oil camber to the catch tank. I've re-routed all my breather system.

    Ive fitted my catch can behind the passenger side wheel arch liner. Didn't want any crap going through the new turbo.

    So the pipe runs down to the can and then just from the can to atmosphere or have you it pipe back to the intake?

    Mine vents to atmosphere. On the outlet I added a 3" length of tube and a filter.

    It's generic ktec do the same one with pipes for 119

    That's excluding VAT and I don't think it's powdercoated.

    It cost me about £135 for the Mocal, ITG breather filter, 1m oil hose, and jubilee clips.

    Stops oil going back into the intake and lowering the octane of the fuel.

    @TimR26 can you remember what internal diameter hose you bought ?
