I plugged in a new radio recently and all was fine (and may be completely unrelated) but today when I went to the car I noticed the LCD displays between the dials are blank, the elec mirrors don't work, and the radio doesn't work. Also, with the key in the slot, I can't turn the ignition on (without the engine). At first I was checking all the radio cables to check to see if I had accidentally pulled a wire loose but all seemed ok and everything else seems fine. Any ideas?
Maybe, will look tomorrow, noticed the indicators don't work either. Good thing it isn't my only car!
So fairly obvious that the installation of the radio caused the fuse to blow I'd say? The radios sometimes have their own separate inline fuse which may have also blow. There may be a smaller circuit mounted fuse inside the radio too, which could have gone. A third less likely option is that the power polarity has somehow been reversed and the radio might now be toast. Glad you've got the rest of it working though.
Yep it was I am sure, when I pulled the radio back out I think a loose wire shorted. All sorted for £20 by a local guy this morning now.
Or so I thought! Now the central interior display is permanently lit! Guy coming back Monday to fix it.
