R26 New year - new window problem!

  1. Hi guys , Happy new year!
My R26 has decided to kick me in the nuts AGAIN as the drivers window has stopped working.
I replaced the motor and complete regulator a few months back and its been working nice and smooth since then.
Took the car out for a post Christmas drive yesterday and it was fine. Tried it this morning and it's dead. No movement up or down. Fuse is fine. I took the speaker out and wriggled the motor plug and that did nothing. Looked at the main plug by the door hinges and it's perfect.
It isn't drawing any current when I press the switch either. The switch feels quite sloppy compared to the passenger side one.

Any suggestions before I pull it apart next weekend?

  2. can you swap switches over and see if its that?

  4. I've got one of those magicube things that are waterproof apparently but I can't hear any clicks when I press the button so the problem could be there. I have a spare new one so that's ok. I've ordered a new switch aswell as mine feels worn and 'loose' compared to the passenger side.
I'm gradually renewing everything window related in an effort to minimise future problems!
Like i said I can't be arsed with the bloody thing till the weekend! I'll take the door panel off and hoprefully diagnose it properly then.

    Hi Mark
You can disconnect the wires from the motor and carefully insert a wire into each connection, then you can connect to a battery, it's a reversible motor so if it doesn't do anything swap the wire to the power source, if it still doesn't move the motors shot, that will eliminate that from the list of possible broken things

  6. Fixed! The magicube was fubared. Good job I had a spare one.
