New Tyres

  1. By virtue of already having SS at the back I would go for that for the front. Gives you consistency and same water displacement characteristics.

  2. Agree with NickF, I always like a matched set.

Plus, if you move them to try and equalise wear on all 4, you can swop to a new brand of 4 later.

  3. Hey guys thanks for replying. I was leaning towards getting the Super Sports anyway, so I'll probably go ahead and get them.

Does anyone know a good place to buy them? I've checked tyre leader already like the link shows. Is there anywhere else I can check?

  4. Tyreleader is usually the cheapest place as long as you have somewhere handy to fit them onto the wheels.

Tyre depends on what you're using it for. Personally for general road use i say Michelin PS4 currently, and then for more track-orientated action either Federal 595RSR for ultimate bang-for-buck or Dunlop Direzza DZ03G for just ultimate road-legal track tyres.

  5. You could try Tyreshopper with the current 5% discount code on their site plus the 3% topcashback. That should equalise with Tyreleader + fitting. And it's a one shop simpler solution even though it means going to National.

  6. Called my local tyre company and they said the PSS' in 235 40 18 95Y are £100 excluding VAT.

That includes fitting as well, so I think that's probably my best bet.

  7. Do they do PSS in 235 18? If so that's a great price.

  8. Well tyreleader have them in that size, so they must.

I was expecting him to quote me a lot more, I was pleasantly surprised when he said £100 ex VAT

  9. Ended up going with PS2's all round in 235 40 18 95Y

£114 each including fitting and VAT

  10. Good price although I fail to see the logic against PS4s at £10 more each fitted.

Have you binned the rear SS?

  11. He didn't have any PS4's in stock, and I needed new front tyres as they were on the legal limit or less. So I just went with what he had in stock.

Binned them, they had a lot of cracks around the tyre, some were pretty big so I changed them as well.

  12. Fair enough ! The PS2 is the default tyre for the chassis I think anyway.

  13. It is for the 275 with Tibors yes. Not sure on the 265/250's.

  14. PS2 was standard on R26.
Getting old now though..i think the PSS beats the PS2 allround.

I have some PS4 in 225/40/18 sat in the garage ready to go on when the PSS wear out..
