Haha well my 275 will be near 3 years old then, so good time to trade in on the new model Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Not long to wait then. I get it plenty, and dish it out too. They're definitely machines of character lol. They're working on that in a big way, pouring big money into their motorsport division with the WRC team, racing at the Nurburgring and I believe a TCR car too. This new car is just the start, so I think it's something we are going to see more of. It's a brand on the up. The usual suspects should definitely be looking over their shoulders in my view.

The only aggro I had was from some obnoxious woman / girl at a party who scoffed when I said I drove a renault. She was banging on about BMW’s but I pointed out that the Megane trophy would wipe the floor with most BMW’s with the exception of the M range. It’s how a brand is perceived. Hyundai’s are great cars but the masses will struggle to accept them without excellent marketing and propaganda. Brand snobbery is rife in the uk. Sad but true. Personally I don’t care what anyone thinks of my car as I know it’s a great machine but a lot of people who are ignorant about cars just take it at face value. Like these jackasses on YouTube who comment and say all French cars are shit. They are too ignorant to comprehend that renault have been making some of the best hot hatches for the last 20 years. Takes decades to lose a reputation in cars. With all french cars, they all had a rep for flakey build quality and dodgy electrics. Even into the 2000`s, Peugeot released the 307 with serious wiring loom problems and rear axle faults that required both to be replaced. My friend went to trade in her 2008 Peugeot 307 estate. When she had a look at the recalls on this model,it was as long as your arm. She then nearly fell on the floor when the garage offered her a £100 trade in!
Look at the new Focus RS’s, they are experiencing engine and gearbox woes. All manufacturers have their flaws ! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Ford get a lot of stick too though. You'll never get rid of badge snobbery but I wouldn't let it put me off a car.
nor me...if it handles well..i dont care what it looks like,or wha but people will still fall over themselves to buy them..look at the value of mk2 RS Focus`s. Yes,the mk3 has its problems..but it will still sell many more units than the new RS Megane.
I'm sure I heard through work that we were buying four times more of them than the rest of Europe but don't know how true that is.
I have to say when i have been to the Ring, the most common hot hatch you see is the mk3 meganesport..
Never quite understood the UK obsession with Fords, not a statement about the recent RS but the retained value on any form or remotely interesting special Ford, Puma for example, Racing Puma silly money normal Puma 500 quid. Mate years ago spent 2 years rebuilding a cortina 1600E, he loved the thing, interesting old car but I just couldn't get the obsession. Of course in todays market mint 1600E and old Escorts are crazy money.
mustang out selling the rs focus 3 to 1 in europe. RS Focus was shifting 500 units a month in the US.
Yep..ford havnt made a truly great car since the puma imo And for some bizarre reason,my old 02 puma is still sat in storage!..at the moment its utterly worthless. That car had everything you would want,in the way it went down a B road. Very much like my Integra Type R in its balance.
I drove the new RS and it wasn’t a patch on the meg. It felt pokey enough and it had slightly better road holding but everything else was below par compared to my trophy. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
My mate works at ford so get to drive all the cars I want ha! Driven a few focus RS’s mk3 now and if we’re talking on handling alone....it handles very well. One thing I did find however was in any mode on planting your foot to the floor in any of the lower gears the back end would squirm until it found traction. Traction off the line is mega. No spin at all! Performance is great in a straight line and vs the Megane I wouldn’t say there is much in it at all! Meg mk3 (my meg 250 cup) vs focus on a B road I wouldn’t want to bet on either.... Still I do love a renaultsport fat far more than any Ford.
that ford lump is breathless up top...The seat leon 300 blew it away by some margin at speed. seems the biggest criticism is its damping on a less than smooth road.
wonder what my 12 plate 250 would be worth trade in when they come out... rare colour, low (ish) miles etc.. do want one
I'm sure the trade in you'd be offered would be awful. Probably better to sell privately and go wave a big deposit under the dealer's nose.
my mate test drove the Hyundai at speed in the week. He said its lovely inside, and handled beautifully, especially the ability of the LSD,to pull you round the corners. Thing comes pretty much fully loaded as standard. Only thing he didnt like was the so-so engine. Also they wouldnt offer him much of a deal, even though he had a substantial cash deposit. He really liked the ability to tailor the damping, throttle and steering exactly how you would want it. Will be interesting to see how they sell.
Is it me or just that picture, but it looks like they have joined the back of a Mk2 to the front of a Mk3 .
Popped down the local Renault garage to speak with the "RS Specialist ". Apparently they will arrive in the showrooms in april and they can order their demonstrator at the end of Jan. Put my name down for a test drive when it comes in.
A car depreciates by the same amount irrespective of finance method, including cash. A car may or may not be cheaper to actually own, it depends.
The new R.S. Megane was on course car duties at Rally Monte Carlo over the weekend. It didn't all go to plan for one pilot!
Pistonheads are teasing us today with a story about previous R.S. Meganes: https://www.pistonheads.com/news/ph-eurocars/renault-megane-r-s-generation-game/37477 Review of the new one tomorrow apparently...
There was a big Journo test yesterday going by some images i seen of a German guy with a large fleet of them parked up so id expect a load of reviews and features on them in the coming week or so
The L'Argus video looks fast, really impressive how it points into the corners. Will be interesting to see how the car fairs in comparison tests.
