New Owner RS250 Cup

  1. Hi everyone, my name is Stu.

Sold my Clio 172 Cup which I shared with my dad as a track toy we did 35 ish track days and 2 Ring trips in the 2 years we had it and I did toy with the idea of building a Meg engine'd Clio for a while, then decided just to buy a newer car and got the 250 cup and have done with it, So about 3 weeks ago we bought a White 59 plate 250 cup with belts done 12 months ago, full service history (last one was a Major @ Diamond Motors) and it has the cloth Recaro's , RS Monitor. Seats are in OK condition considering it has 100k miles on it but car feels solid and no rattles or funny noises. Plan is to strip it out and have a full welded in cage, decent suspension set up and a little bit of power upgrade and see how we get on. Power will probably be the last thing to be concentrated on as I want the suspension done first and then cage and proper buckets/harnesses.

Currently in the unit waiting to be fitted was an impulse bought set of Nitron R1 coilovers (was tagged in a post on facebook and couldn't resist at the price lol) some Ferrodo DS1.11 front pads with DS2500 rears just for a little upgrade the discs seem fine for now so not sure what I'll be running when I need to replace them poss 2 piece floating but more than likely Brembo HC discs as they've never let me down and for the price are spot on so will see what funds are like, Goodridge braided lines and fresh brake fluid which I normally use ATE superblue/gold depending what is available (as I think they stopped making the blue).. On the shopping list to go on with the other stuff is Engine and gearbox mounts, anti roll bars and any bushes etc that will need doing. Later in the year I'll hopefully be stripping it out and having a full welded in cage then have a turbo back exhaust, intercooler and then mapping (Chris @ EFI Parts in Runcorn will be doing the mapping with any luck) the exhaust/cooler might be done over the summer and the cage over the winter see how busy and when the cage guy can fit me in and how temps go on track (the cooler might come first with a meth kit but where does it end lol)

And not forgotten but I'm shopping round for wheels which at the minute is being a pain in the backside... lol

So... That's a quick introduction and a little bit about my car and future plans haha

  2. Welcome!

I know you mention power is low on requirement but it's so easy on these cars with a map

  3. Car actually has an RS tuner map on which I'm waiting for Chris at EFI to clear the ECU back to standard (Henk locks the ECU when you use the RS Tuner) and possibly use my car for development with his mapping. Did swap it over into Extreme to see what it does (think it was the top of the 3 curves)
