Dear all users of this forum, i would like to say hallo to all I'm a new proud owner of my 3dr Megi 1.9dci, with sport package, lowered on Koni's etc. I'm 23 years old, and still a student, but working ower 3 years in an engineering company as FEM engineer. I grow up in a garage and love everything associated with mechanics. hope to make god time over here and help people, or get help
First sunny day after a month of rain. 235/40/18 ET37 setup (and i like it a lot) sorry for the car not washed but will do so very soon (working long hours and rain for a month almost) rear yokahoma advansport, front toyo px what tire pressure do you recommend, I'm at 2.6 front and 2.2 rear.
I should update this a bit OEM xenon headlights itted with infiniti fx35 bi-xenon projektore clear tsx lens Lot of cutting.
Managed to source a 225 ph1 fiberglas front bumper for cheap, only have to repair the holes cut out for ph2 headlights by previous owner and repaint (Pictures are of the previous owner)
Also sourced megane 3 rs recaro seats ( a part of them) Bottoms are in top condition while the driwers one (LHD) had a small tear which was repaired Repaired one And this saturday i started to make the mould for the backs as i dont have the back parts. Further progress will be very slow as i have a loot of work and almost no free time.
that's a lot of work right there! Winter tyres in the UK must be fitter for about 10 months of the year :>
This looks interesting! How will you keep the glass from flexing and cracking under body weight and g forces? Are you adding a torsion bar inside for rigidity?
No need for such. That is the beauty of the composites. I can make them as stiff as i want in the direction i want. Even this mold on the pictures is as hard as the original one. And i can make them from carbon fiber at 1mm thickness and tobe double the stiffnes of the plastic original one. Dont forget that the original is termoplastic abaut 2mm thick and has no reinforcment. And the composites are more then double the strength.
as I worn out the steering wheel and my friend had one of these "ebay" perforated "leather" ones i decided, ah, fuck it, it cant be that bad until I get time for retrim Preparatio Double sided adhesive tape to stop any movement In process done
slowly getting there with the front bumper, its cold here so I cant play with it and a slight mod on the renault emblem how do you like it ?
First sunny day and had to get it on a car but the grill that I am making isn't cut to the side, so the grill hit the headlights and that is why the bumper sits funky. im thinking of getting something like this for the lover grill: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Car-...50&btsid=59bfc250-57b8-4e36-b2d4-7f94272f2c4a as I really don't like the mesh one. and also the leon cupra mk1 lip friend was over so we took some photos : full res photos https://www.dropbox.com/s/ncgqsxrx5ale310/IMG_2349-2 Panorama.jpg?dl=0 ~19MB https://www.dropbox.com/s/49sjcixvncczuj4/IMG_2373-2 Panorama1.jpg?dl=0 ~10MB
I sourced a new (uesd) intercooler as mine was sligtly bent and didnt want that to show throught the "new" RS bumper Got it cleaned as much as posibble on presure washer (with citrus cemical treatmen to desolve as much of the dirt as possible) bit of light sanding and straightened all the little cooling ribs and he is ready for painting. Primer Finished Ill maybe apply one or two layers of clear coat for added protection and to make it easier for cleaning
here the old front bumper cross member, she is finally changed for a new one. Old FMIC in the background, and the damage on it is visible, it is the reason why have I changed up to one in pristine condition. the old one didn't leek but it bugged me New FMIC mounted, much much prettier to the eyes than the old one and finaly a new cross member fitted mounted RS front bumper: Sadly the front bumper is not nearly in as condition as I thought, it is is much worst, and will require much much more work to make it up to the standard than anticipated. the line between the bonnet and the bumper is chaotic, starts on right hand side at 0, at middle it is at 8-10mm and ends at 4mm (which is super and I will try to make the rest to be in same distance) also in the middle the bumper is much lower than the bonnet, it does not follow the line of it. Most of the mounting points are misplaced, and in one area, the bumper is to thick to mount nicely. I sourced one more pair of front seats, that are in god condition (only the airbags are popped). I will take the material and foam off, to fit on mine seats, and will use the frame for the railings, reclining mechanism etc
Good work, keep at it and i'm sure you'll get it to be how you want it mate I like the dCi on the new intercooler too.
No progress yet on them as it was cold and rainy and Im doing my work on the street as i live in a small apartment.
Finally back on summer tyres on friday, also did some detailing. I have some hard shit gunk on my car. Dodnt manage to get it off even with some strong soaps.. I will have to ironx it and clay it. Yesterday and today I was on a track beside some RS models (I was only a specataor) Also menaged to lower the IC so it will show more trough the RS bumper when the time comes and also the dCi that is painted will be aparent.
