New Break Pads R26

  1. About to purchase some Ferodo DS2500's for the front and back.

Any other recommendations at a similar price? Dont want to be paying more than £270ish.

  2. I find ds111 front and standard brembo in the back will put the car on its nose time and time again.tried all manner of combinations over the years.

  3. I can second that, it’s what we run on the track car.

  4. Thanks both. Better than the ds2500 all round?

    Any noise issues?

  5. I have Performance Friction Z-Rated Front & DS2500 Rear paired with Godspeed J Hook discs on mine and am very happy with them.

These were newly fitted just before I bought the car though, I think I'd go with the above recommendations next time the pads need changing - The rears don't do very much so it's worth spending more up front and the standard brembo (very cheap from ECP etc usually) are more than up to the job on the rear.

I run Performance Friction Z rated pads on the front, but i have the Mk3 brake setup on mine, i use it hard on track and they work really well and for £118 for the pads i'm well happy, was paying £300 for CL8's on the 265 to get decent track brakes.

I might try Ds uno's next just to see the difference

  9. i had ds2500 in the rear of my R26,and they groaned after repeated hard stops,
that the standard brembos rears coped with.
You can get some low speed noise with DS111...but i wqill take that all day for the hard abuse they will take without fading.
    Very little warm up to.
Reasonably dusty..but what performance pad isnt.
I have heard DS Unos are very similar in performance.
The graphs i have seen, seem to indicated the DS Uno are a little better at very high temps.

  10. A lot of poor brake performance comes down to old brake fluid.
A premium fluid like a RBF 600 fully flushed through works womders sometimes..especially if your pedals a bit spongy.

  11. When I did the search it said it does :tearsofjoy:

Ive used the product code you gave and can get the Brembo's for £26.

Ive also gone for the Ferodo DS1.11 and got them for £186 :grinning:

  12. all should be good now for fast road/occasional track. As long as that fluids good, then the only other thing is braided brake lines for a bit more pedal feel.

  13. Also for the rears, EPC redstuff vs OEM Brembo's?

Only for fast road use, not track.

  14. Motul rbf600 or 660 is good fluid and withstands hard track use without boiling.

I also echo ds1:11 or dsuno for pad choice, both work excellent. Bonus with ds1:11 is they work great from cold, and last ages, no fade at all.

  15. Just ordered the Motul on andrewjeffs recommendation as well :grinning:

  16. the expensive ds2500 had absolutely zero performance advantage over bog standard brembos.Unless heavy track work, just go oem.Ian from plymouth who tracks the hell out his cars uses ordinary pads in the rear to.

I fit Textar pads in the rear, not had an issue with them and last well for £26 odd

Nothing wrong with them, rear brakes on a Megane only have about 5% of the total braking.

  21. I know the front breaks always take the brunt but never realised it was so low for the rears.

  22. older post I was reading through. That's correct what you say here about the rear brakes. What I don't follow you on is the low budget brake pads at the back and the better ones at the front. This means that the car will dive more and the suspension will change the geometry depending on which suspension you have. We also use sturdy brake pads on the rear of the Clio Endurance to effectively reduce the dip with good results. If you spend a lot of time on the circuit, in my theory the rear side could also use DS1.11.

I have used good pads in the rear, they were Mintex 1155 and to be honest i didn't notice any gains in using them, they did cost a shite load more money though.

    Ohh and i'm not a professional driver, it's a hobby :laughing::laughing:

  24. I can indeed imagine that there is not much to be gained from this for track day riders. Wasn't a personal attack, just wanted to let you know :tongueout:

Mine told me to take up golf as she thinks it's a cheaper hobby :rage:
Told her it's my money and i'm not asking her for any, so she can do one :laughing::laughing:

    I didn't take it personally :laughing::laughing::laughing:

I've tried a good few different front pads, i know what i like now, had a few tell me xxxx pads are better but in my opinion were shite, one set i tried nearly caused me to have a big off at the ring :rage::rage::rage:

I used to do track days at Monza (with my Honda EP3) a track very very hard for the brakes.
I tested a few , but best of all by miles were Pagid RS29.

for me its Carbon Lorraine RC8's in a Mk3, there too aggressive in a Mk2 with 250 brake setup, my choice then was Performance Friction Z rated, i did try PBS track spec pads they were good

  30. Hi all, im on the hunt for some rear discs as Im replacing the lot. Cant find any Brembo drilled ones for less than £300 :openmouth:

Front ones are easy to find cheap. If I use Brembo on the front and MTEC on the back, will they look similar if they are both drilled?
