250 Need help! Rough accelerator

Discussion in 'Mechanical - Engine, Gearbox, Exhaust etc' started by gmauluka, Aug 14, 2016.

  1. Guys, need your help to see if anyone has an idea of what's wrong.
Started up my car and pulled away for it to jolt on me and started sounding really noisy almost like a hole in the exhaust and loads of vibrations coming though the accelarator pedal and through the seat. Aa guy came and I took it to a car park down the road. He drove it around the car park and from the outside it sounds fine. Nothing wrong, he did an engine diagnostic and nothing came up. It's only inside you can feel it. When you start the engine it feels really rough and even just slightly pushing the accelerator it feels rough as anything and vibrates loads. But driving it, it still drives as normal. Anyone have a clue as the aa guy was useles and said I need to take it to Renault where it's probably not gonna be able to get sorted for a week and probably have my trousers pulled down with prices. Also seemed to think my engine was on its way out as he can hear a ticking when revving but would be surprised as it's only done 40k and I only do about 13miles a day with it

I'd almost put money on it being the bolt for the gearbox mount being sheared.

Mine done it a couple years back, I didn't want to risk any further damage as the nearest specialist is around 40 miles from mine so i had it recovered, Couple miles should be fine though if your gentle.

  4. OK Cool, gently got it to a garage this morning few miles away. Hopefully don't get ripped off too much

  5. Got the car back earlier. Bolt had snapped cleanly off. Feels so much better to drive now compared to before it even snapped

  6. Glad you got it sorted. Did you fit the updated mount or just replace the bolt?

  7. Just the bolt. Will be able to tell signs of it getting loose early now.
Got it done at a garage so if it goes again i'll make sure they sort it out for free and maybe look to getting the mount as well
