Hi boys, i need to slap back a colleague at work who is taking the piss he send me this he is driving an e46 m3 for him renault garbage, has no idea what a megane can do
-jamie- owns one here and gets him to spin at the end flol - it had nitron's and other tasty mods and pretty sure jamie's car was pretty std bar a map at that point. He catches him from 18 minutes...... Our main man highmast75 give's an E92 all sorts of pain in this vid from 3:33 onwards - and it has a huge straight that should play into its hands as you'll see.... Top gear lap times as well....... The E46 did it in 1.31.8, the R26 in 1:30.8, faster than the Focus RS also.....R26.R carded a 1:28 the 265 trophy went even faster... http://fastestlaps.com/models/renault-megane-sport-f1-team-r26 http://fastestlaps.com/models/bmw-m3
That's a mates M3, running Nitrons, CSL airbox and a map, AP brakes and V70s, very quick car. Mine was under 300bhp at that point. Was at Rockingham in August, running more power and sticky tyres, was another M3 running similar mods to my mates and on Pilot cups, I had to lift out it or I would of been in his boot on the straights and corners there was very little in it. I had the edge slightly.
Here was my second track day taster in my standard 250 and had two little plays with e46 M3's at oulton park and destroyed one on the mway when I only had it a few weeks! They are a good car but how many do you see....they are extremely dated inside and pretty soon he will regret buying it. Probably another bloke who buys an old performance car and sticks budget tyres on it and cheap fuel! Here is my little vid. The first M3 I don't think really knows or has confidence to fully floor it. That is at 1min 55 secs. But the second one does at 3min 40! Not the best camera position but non the less mine is completely standard. http://youtu.be/qkSAOfkVzIA
Vanos woes, suspensions bushes, boot floor cracks etc. etc. Good choice for a track slag though or full on race car build but everyone who has gone that path seems to end up spending huge quantities of money on them. A mate of mine raced a proper BMW motorsport e92 M3 GT4 the past year in those creventic run endurance races http://www.24hseries.com and VLNs, mega jealous of that but it is entirely different league to ratty old E46 road cars.
Yes mate u got it right, cheap fuel and budget tyers !!! Especially the budget tyres !!! He had 335d before the m, mapped and silly lowered and newer had a set of TYRES on it
He did not like all the arguments hitting him last night shift, lap times, videos and your personal experiences, just kept shrugging his shoulders, ha ha
To be fair the driver makes a massive difference. One that is pedalled properly won't be much slower, if at all
just send it back to him asking, why he's not driving a merc, which he clearly should be doing according to his own logic ;-)
