Yeah that's it. Also Inferno seems to suite the lines of the 225 and not so much the roundness of the 182. Not that I don't love an Inferno 182 but just suits the 225 better. I do love the 250s in liquid yellow but I get the black roof complements it nicely and tones it down a little. Again liquid yellow is one of those colours that people wet their pants over but actually it suits some cars better than others. For example I think it suits the 225/250 better than the 133 for example. Yeah honestly the difference is negligible. Also what doesn't help with Nimbus Grey is that even standard panels that you know haven't had paint, look different depending on the light. It's far from just grey. Thanks mate, loads fresher than it did. I'm just itching now to give the car a proper wash, re-polish and protect.
both your cars look great. Trophy looks so much better with decals and wrap removed. just needs those BNB stickers removing now ive always noticed that paint can look different on plastic panels than it does on metal ones. I think its something to do with the type of primer used that affects the paint shade slightly. although your bonnet seems to match the wings perfectly and they are plastic. so this theory could be totally wrong
Haha I would remove the BNB stickers but that's my own club that a few mates are part of so gotta fly my own flag really! I know what you mean regarding paint colours, they do seem to show up differently on different plastics to metals but then again a friend of mine does bodywork repairs and painting and reckons it shouldn't make a difference. All I know is that on my 172 the panels differed in colour as do the ones on my Trophy. Then again my inferno all looks very uniform so guess it's colour dependent. Here's a couple of clean shots of the Trophy with the freshly painted bonnet... Couple of random shots after todays wash... And the back end now it's de-badged....
Yeah I think so too, the back of the Megane II has a fair few lines which look cluttered with too many badges. Just the one RS one or naked seems to suit it best.
rear looks great with no badges. I removed the rear wiper from mine when I had it, makes it look even less cluttered. I never used the wiper either so it didn't cause me any problems
I'm not sure I'll go as far as de-wipering although I will admit cars generally do look nice and tidy with them removed.
Not an exciting update but many of you will feel the pain of having a headlight bulb need replacing on a Megane II. But with Ed (LiquidF1) nearby and always being helpful, he offered to whip the bumper off and swap em over for me. Looks scary!! Did the indicators whilst it was off as well. So from orange to Ring Silver Enigma bulbs which have a funky blue/silver look but flash a bright orange. To this.... The headlight bulbs I went for were Ring Xenon Ultimas which I've used before and for just a bulb upgrade there is a noticeable difference in brightness and whiteness. Big thanks to Ed once again.
Yeah those Xenon Ultimas are a big improvement. I forgot just how much as I have them fitted to my Twingo but haven't driven that at night in a fair while. For those that may want a set, these are the headlight bulbs I've opted for........
I got them from Motorworld as there's a store near me (Caterham, Surrey) that I've used for years that stocks a selection of Ring bulbs. http://www.motor-world.co.uk You'll probably get these off eBay as well
Ive fitted these ring bulbs to my Meg mk3 in dip and main, nice easy upgrade, found Amazon.com the cheapest then.
I couldn't resist one little teaser pic, Ed (LiquidF1) has worked his detailing magic on my 225 Trophy and I am absolutely amazed at how well it's come out. Waiting to read the full write up but here's a sneaky look....
Nice one Alex, look forward to the write up on this  I would have loved to have kept my old Trophy as well as the 250....
Thanks mate, it looks immense. I mean I know how to detail a car from a hobbyists perspective but Ed takes it beyond my level! I'd love to keep the Trophy but I will eventually sell it for a 259/265 eventually. For now though she's going nowhere haha
cars looking really good alex, i forgot you had a megane or 2. i am relatively new to meganes and the forum but did have a twingo before hand, saw you knocking around on 133
I do love a RenaultSport. I still have my Twingo 133 Gordini, hasn't moved in a while but will be back in the road in the new year! Still got the inferno 225 that's tucked up in the garage. That's my real baby haha
snap to love of renault sport . i still got the twingo as well, i use it as my every day driver and the megane is my weekend baby
Good call mate, the Twingo RS makes a perfect day to day car. Good on fuel, surprisingly practical and also has just the right balance of power and grip so you never end up driving like a loon to enjoy it. It's the Meganes that let the speed creo up on you by the Twingo doesn't which I like.
Well the Trophy is currently looking cold and grumpy! Had two new rear tyres fitted to the car at the end of December and annoyingly the fitter damaged one of the wheels in the process. Bloody annoyed as they were completely original and had never been repaired but to their credit they've offered to foot the bill for the refurb. The damage was so minimal but still, I want mint wheels and don't do enough driving to just accept it as wear and tear when with my use they don't get damaged. Anyway, fast forward three weeks and I've got the wheel booked in and then three days prior to that, I drive over what looks like a Stanley blade. F-ing marvellous! So at the weekend a friend of mine took one of the wheels away to be full refurbished, took the other off for me so I can get a new tyre put on it. Left the car looking like this....... So I have one Trophy wheel awaiting a tyre that arrives today. I have one wheel due back next weekend shiny and painted. Also, I have a spare eight spoke 225 wheel that I've been meaning to have refurbished, so that is off for powder coating black. Then will have a budget tyre fitted so I have it as a spare in the Trophy. Phew, gonna be a busy weekend.
Well I have one Trophy wheel which they've done a cracking job on. Rather than refurb the entire wheel they knew I'm very fussy so rather than a possible colour mismatch they repaired the minor damage, then re-lacquered the wheel. Keeps it as OEM as possible and looks as good as new. Also whilst it was being done I had a spare 225 full fat wheel powder coated gloss black. It's going to be used as a spare in the Trophy but matches the Inferno.
Well that was one properly knackered tyre, which has now been replaced.... Plus one brilliantly refurbished Trophy alloy. What they actually did was rather than completely strip and respray the wheel, they opted to repair the marks and re-lacquer the wheel instead. I was quite pleased as it keeps the wheel as original as possible and minimises a colour mismatch.
Well the Trophy hasn't had a great deal done, been keeping it clean after December's detail. Also, after a slight nudge against an oddly angled sign I decided to have the front bumper blown over. I know the car has had paint in the past, let alone the bonnet that was done last year due to the wrap not coming off. So thought I'd have all the stone chips removed. Now a perfect match to the bonnet's paint. Just needs another wash now -
