My meg 250 slides on full lock

Discussion in 'Suspension, Brakes, Wheels & Tyres section' started by Wmrs250, Mar 16, 2015.

  1. What can cause my meg to slide on full right lock, I've had a look underneath and I can't see anything out the ordinary, it's a weird sensation where i can feel the front right tyre slide and the back end trying to go out but it's mostly the front that gives

  2. What road conditions is this happening on???

I assume that this is at low speed manoeuvres going by the fact you have said full lock? If so this is normal. Its a characteristic for the wheel to skip due to the Castor/Wide track and LSD

  4. At low speed?

Mine does it occasionally usually on greasy shitty road surfaces. Back doesn't go out though?

  5. normal for it to do this.

  6. Roads were dry and yes at low speeds no more then 5 or 10mph, I don't think I remember it sliding out on me but just turning the wheel stationary makes the back slide a few inches too which is bizzare, you can't feel it but you can see it when your outside, must be due to the wide track you mentioned, I'm glad it's normal lol cheers lads

Wheel skipping is normal, The rear wheels slipping while stationary isn't and is the first time i have seen it mentioned TBH

  8. As Jamie says , never heard of the back skipping. Mine certainly never has done.

  9. My fronts skip when on full lock at slow speeds in damp / cold conditions. I know take a wider line out of the drive coz I always imagine it isn't doing any good for the car. It normal on every renaultsport I have driven!

the back skipping? Never heard of it!?!

  10. I thought it was just me! Wests in Bedford was servicing my car and I explained what was happening. They spoke with the Renaultsport specialist in the cambs branch and they said its normal for it to do it. Tyres need changing soon so when I stick new ones on will see if it skips again!

Welcome to lsd at full lock/low speed, welded are worse too, always seems worse when ground has camber .

  12. I went to get the alignment done on my car and my ball joints are shot on both sides, explains why I was getting the weird turning, anyone know the part number for the ball joints directly behind the brake disk because there seems to be 2 ball joints on each side

  13. There are two on each side. You can only get them from Renault as part of the full hub assembly which is about £700 a side. You can get the individual ball joints on eBay for much cheaper.

  14. I've had a look on ebay, ain't got a clue which one I need to order, need to order so track rod ends too, nightmare

  15. You can get them far cheaper from R sport.

R-Sport are about the same, just minus the 10 quid per ball joint postage that I got stung for
