Thought I'd start a thread on here, got one over on CS.net so thought I'd post on here too. Until October I previously had a clip 172 in flame red. I'd pretty much done everything I had wanted to it so thought it was time to move on as I get bored when I'm not occupied. I'll start off with some photos of the 172. So onto the megane, originally I wanted an r26 but the additional cost over a 225 on insurance wasn't worth it so crossed them off my list. Bought this from a car dealer in York and I'm over the moon with it. 2006 facelift in albi blue 60k miles Plenty of service history Full leather interior Already had the following modifications done: -wind deflectors -aux lead into back of headunit -cooksport springs (never knew until someone mentioned how well it sat and what it was lowered on) I my ownership it's had the following done: -x4 Goodyear eagle f1 assymetric 3's -mr pink stainless brembo pins -new front discs, pads and fluid -genuine rs mats -refurbished the gear knob insert -Fitted a megane battery cover -swapped all interior bulbs to LEDs -new genuine numberplate cluster -swapped numberplate lamps to osram LEDs -Swapped sidelights to osram LEDs -fitted a type R aerial -replaced the wheel bolts to tpi polarised ones including locking wheel bolts A few pictures of progress now, start with under the bonnet with the battery cover and the coolant cap emblem painted yellow. Quick photo of the type R aerial. More to follow...
Next up was the gear knob insert, no pictures of before but it was well worn with no symbol visible. I painted it myself and used a sticker which was then lacquered over. Couple of photos of the LEDs swapped. All interior LEDs are the same colour just the camera picked them up different. The puddle lights, boot light and interior vanity lights have been done but no photos. Photo of the front brakes, also painted the rear calipers and discs as they let the image down.
The wheels are ready for a refurb but they will wait till winter is over. The rusty wheel bolts really bugged me and in my opinion let the car down so purchased some TPI polarised bolts. I went with these as I'm not a fan of chrome and getting new originals would end up the same. Some befores of the bolts: And some afters much better I'd say!
That's pretty much it for now so ill end with some overall photos of the car (before the wheel bolts)
What was the difference in premium between the 225 and R26? I've had both and didn't notice a massive difference when i changed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I'm only 21 so insurance costs are quite high for me but to have an r26 was going to be at minimum an extra £800 on top of what I pay now. God knows why, I'm assuming it's seen as more desirable being a special edition? Who knows!
Do whatever I can but I'm limited on tools and somewhere to do it, everything apart from brakes and tires I've done. I wasn't a fan of it in the pictures at first but loved it in person
I'm tempted to do some work on mine but pretty clueless. Those wheels look and sit great so im gonna do the same to mine . Once it has had some issues ironed out. Reading this thread with interest (in which I mean steal your ideas )
