So.. since iv been a member on here for a while thought I'd finally stick some details of my car up. Started on the vag scene with a SEAT Ibiza but always wanted to leave the tdi for a more performance based car, and so far I've never looked back. Old New Picked the megane up from a dealer which a friend worked at for a good price about 4 years ago now and it's had one or two daft problems but the driving experience more than makes up for it, car gets used every day for work come rain or shine, track days and random trips away. Standard when I picked it up with 16k on the clock so was a good place to start, yeah I wanted an r26 but for the price and low miles I couldn't pass it up.
First of all I wanted a bit more noise from the car so got myself a 3 " cat back system from k-tec, fitted and sounded great Next I picked up a big boost pipe kit up from a lad selling a brand new setup cheap so thought why not dispite all the talk that there is no performance increase at all Then fitted the popular samco intake pipe and ram air filter.
So although I didn't have all the parts I wanted, a group buy for rs-tuning came up so got the car booked in, 2 hour drive from home but I was guaranteed it would be worth it. Car performed better than I'd expected considering its lack of modifications but pulled 228.9 base run and 269.4 - 290ftlb which made the trip home much more enjoyable. Few weeks later decided to see how the car was on track so booked a cheap day out to blyton park with a few mates.. got some light weight front seats, stripped put the back and went for it Instantly I was hooked on track driving, bought a set of yellow stuff pads, already had hc disks on a set of kumo tyres and had a very good day. Car was faultless, out performed the ep3, seat leon cupra and em1 civic I went with as well as plenty more cars that were there.
Track days stuck in my head went ahead with a couple more mods 90mm intercooler Rear spacers Fresh brembo hc discs Eibach springs R26 shocks Also picked up a carbon bonnet And bought an R26r spoiler
Had a bit down time before the next track day so decided to do some visual mods Painted badges ect.. Couldn't decide on a wheel colour but finally decided on gold... And was well chuffed with the result, done my brake calipers while thr wheels were off Couldn't decide if I wanted a decat due to the pain of fitting one but went ahead and ordered one and had loads of fun fitting it..... Back to rs-tuning for a map tweet and got an extra 5 bhp but knew other was running safe. Then it was them for Caldwell park ☺ Track was great fun bit has some brake issues.. yellow stuff pads were not up to the task so when when I got back sent a complaint to Ebc and they gave me a full refund bit I had to sent them back so they could look at them.. got an email a few days later saying the pad compound was compromised and got sent my money back. Replaced them with ferodo 1.1's and they are epic..
Scouting about online and came across a set of local 197 alloys which I decided to buy as track wheel.. so painted them bright red and started looking for tyres ... Next day found a set of r888's in Hull, they had done one track day on a corsa vxr and we're on an immaculate set of Fox racing alloys... Got the tyres and Fox alloys for 150 quid.. brought them home had the tyres swapped to my clio wheels and sold the fox alloys to a guy in the waiting room of the tyre place for £120 which I was well chuffed with.. Tested them on an evening track day at a local go-kart track (teesside autodrome) and dispite the fact it rained they held on very well.. huge difference to road tyres. Recently all has been on hold except the odd bit of flocked interior due to buying a house but there is a trip to the ring in April booked.. Also this won't be my daily from much longer so some bigger jobs can take place making it more track spec but atm it still needs come comforts.
Took a break from my car and went down south with my Bro to look at swapping his bike for a 182.. car needed a little tlc but he absolutely loves it
if you load your pictures on to a hosting website like flickr, your pictures will show in your thread and people wont have to click on them to view them
So picked up a bargain set off cooksports and dispite the hurricane like wide outside decided to take the eibachs off and get thr cook sports on Look it out for a spin and personally think they are great... can now see why people rate them so highly
Your car looks ace with the gold wheels. I really want a black one and now with gold wheels!! What difference do the cooksports make to the driving ?
Thanks dude.. I really rate them.. I thought I'd get them after all the good things I'd heard and they Def firm up the ride and feels very planted when pushing on.. I'll test them properly at the ring this year
