MOT Failure- Lower suspension arm

Discussion in 'Suspension, Brakes, Wheels & Tyres section' started by noshadow, May 9, 2014.

  1. Just got a call from the garage to say my car has failed its MOT because there was a lot of play in one of the lower suspension arms. I had been getting creaking/squeaking noises but had it checked out a while back, I wasn't able to demonstrate the sound to the mechanic at the time, and was told everything was fine with the car. I managed to recreate the noise for the mechanic today and after the MOT they suspect it is because of the lower suspension arm. Car is a 250 Cup.

Has anyone had any similar experiences? Is this a common problem? What could be the root cause? I'm hoping it's covered by my extended warranty, and if it's not that it won't be too expensive! :worried:

  2. Turns out both hub bearings need replaced, surprise surprise!

  3. I have 2 secondhand hubs, if interested. The car they've been removed from has done 22k

  4. Thanks for the offer but I think I'd be better off with replacing with new ones.
