MK3 rear beam r26?

Discussion in 'Suspension, Brakes, Wheels & Tyres section' started by GLN RS, Mar 4, 2021.

  1. Anyone know of 1; it’s possible? And 2; if it will then let me play with some camber?

Had my geo done on the r26 and the back seems to be way out of whack. Garage thinks the rear beam needs replacing, so thinking of going MK3 beam as an ‘upgrade’.

    Thanks

  3. Thanks mate.

  4. which is better to put mk3 in r26?

  5. I’m no expert, I just drive the thing. I’m led to believe however, that a MK3 rear beam allows you to add camber shims to the rear. The MK2 beam as I understand it, does not.

  6. ^^^exactly this^^^

  7. Believe mk3 beam is slightly wider than a mk2 as well.

  8. Wider track you mean? Or wider mounting points?. I've never thought a mk3 rear beam will fit an 225/r26 !! Hehe

  9. Yeah wider track conoboy, definitely can be done though.

  10. Hi mate. Any idea how much wider the track is? May present a problem if running slightly aggressive offsets on the rear.

  11. The pic I saw of one running on 18” cup wheels sat spot on with the wheels flush to the arch, I’ll see if I can find the pic.

  13. That does look a.good fitment. I'd struggled to find a pic on OEM MK3 wheels.

This has good info on it. I don't like how the wheels sit though, seem to be a bit too far out for me.

Given lots of MK3 owners run 17s, would this be an option too once running 5*114.3? Smaller size might help with fitment.

Apparently there is a Scenic rear axle that's the same as the RS250 axle. Find it hard to believe though. Need to do more searching

  14. Don’t see why you couldn’t fit 17’s if you wanted to.

Would be surprised if the scenic axle was the same, does the mk3 run an arb like an r26?

  15. I find this post very interesting

  16. Pretty sure it doesn't have a rear arb like the r26. I know you can buy aftermarket kits.

  17. i expect the geo is out because your rear beam bushes are knackered.Had this on mine...Put new bushes in,and the geo is now within tolerences..

  18. I’d have been inclined to agree, apart from the fact it’s had all power flex bushes within the last 12 months, and it’s done literally 2k miles :worried:

  19. I already have mine ready.
now i need to buy 5x114 tires.
but 17 or 18? I have great doubts that it is better

  20. the mk3 beam has no stabilizer bar?
that of my r26 if it has

  21. 5x114 more variety of tires.
    both new and second hand.
on the front I have megane 3 brakes. more comfortable to change discs and not modify from 5x108 to 5x114

  22. Makes sense!

  23. Can somebody help me.

i am looking and there are 2 mk3 rear beam models

but I don't see a recorded reference or something aesthetic that differentiates them.
How do I know which model I buy?

  24. Did you find an answer on the differences between the 2 MK3 Mégane rear axle part numbers?
