MK2 Handbrake Cable Tubes

  1. Got replacement tube to go in my passenger side as the cable is completly seized in the current tube on the car.

I have lifted most of the rear carpet, foam, and removed my passenger seat for access and can get the handbrake lever end out but the end that goes to the rear of the car I cant get to move at all.

Am I missing a trick with these? can I just chop the ones in the car in half to remove it and replace?

  2. For anyone else. I ended up removing both front seats and lifting the carpet and foam as far as I could forward, which allowed a lot more movement in the tube once released from the lever mechanism side, and the extra rotation just popped it out of the rear where it the cable comes through.

I think the little bung that is on the cable is slightly wider than the hole these pipes sit in so just needed a bit of extra rotation to get it to pop through once it was out replacement was super easy to fit putting the level side in first then putting the other end in place and putting it in the little locating clip on top of the exhaust tunnel

  3. My running tubes are completely perished too, where did you source new ones? Really struggling to get replacements as renault no longer offer them.
