[Mk2] Carbon / Fibreglass Bonnet

Discussion in 'Wanted' started by papps, Nov 9, 2015.

  1. As above.....

Alternatively if you are looking for one yourself, let me know as I've contacted a couple of suppliers, but will need 5 or so to make it economical for them to make up the moulds etc...

  2. Tempted .. Depends on cost

  3. Same here

  4.

Good stuff guys - there was chat / rumours mark black would be using angel's old supplier for the carbon topped fireglass underneath ones - Cazan used to retail them at 600 or so....but not heard anything yet - would be nice if this was a route we could use to keep it in the community.

There's a couple of UK retailers offering full carbon ones online for around 700 now as well.......but its a tricky one if no one has bought one to see what the quality is like etc.

  5. I had contacted CM composites (The make loads of mk2 and mk3 clio lightweight panels) a few weeks back - and he was very helpful, just needs an idea of likely demand - this thread being a good example.

There's the potential to just go full fibreglass with these guys to keep costs down - however worth factoring in that they'd need wrapping or painting whereas a carbon topped or full carbon one wouldn't

  6. How much weight will the bonnet save? I know the mk2 one feels pretty light. As does my mk3 one

  7. You're right its very little - 7 or 8kgs - my bonnet is pretty worse for wear though and not a flush fit at the front.....

Shame -torch- just sold his car with one on - would of been ideal.

  8. You should get a carbon one UV coated or it will go wonky in the light ...
