Mk2 Cage Intsallation

Discussion in 'Track Days & Track Driving' started by papps, Oct 27, 2015.

  1. Had a rear cage fitted today at Scott McMinn Motorsport in Ayrshire in Scotland.

He took a fair whack of weight out of the car as well - roof lining, curtain airbags, rear door cards etc etc etc.

Very happy with the results :

Need to figure out how to get it painted now lol

The total bill was less than half of what a bolt in ktec cage would of cost to be delivered only and will weigh less.....

  2. All done and dusted in less than 24 hours, how's the group buy going lol

  3. Looks a tidy job. Just whip the rest of it out and put it to a body shop for paint?

  4. Dead easy to paint that yourself mate

  5. Have fun removing the roof sound deadening it's fun.

  6. That brown patch that looks like its cardboard in the pics?

  7. The glue they've used is interesting.

  8. I remember in process of removing the cardboard pulling the whole roof inwards haha
    glue is defienetly interesting..

and if your not up to spraying the cage and whole interior, 2k paint does paint ok and shrink back to reasonable finish with a good quality brush if you get the mix right

  9. Looks brilliant mate.

If the weathers good on Saturday and I've some free time I'll get a closer look at Knockhill.

  10. Looking good buddy....looks a great job

  11. Looks good papps, I too knocked the group buy on the head as they never seem to take off on here and a local cage builder again can do one for a lot less to MSA spec

  12. Looking good mate

Cage looks great, Scott certainly knows his stuff!

If I keep the Megane I'll be getting him to do something similar with mine, potentially a full cage

  14. Yeah that sounds really promising mate - there'e not enough track prepped 250's in the UK - I saw an Italian time attack one the other day on YT going round imola, 10/10.

In the week when it was due for the cage I was really thinking about going all out for the full cage - but thought it was a bit much for me atm....its been future proofed to add a bolt on front section at a later date - which he can make for me
