R26 Missfire/loss of power when starting again warm.

Discussion in 'Mechanical - Engine, Gearbox, Exhaust etc' started by John Gordon, Oct 17, 2019.

  1. Hi,

My 230 engine suffers from a problem.

If I drive the car and get the engine up to temp, then for example; stop at a shop for a short while, allowing the engine to cool slightly then the problem occurs. Once I restart the car, I will have a misfire/loss of power in the first minute or two whilst trying to accelerate. The engine just bogs down and splutters. This will eventually clear.

Only happens when the engine has been up to temp, then allowed to cool slightly and re-started.

Any ideas? Could it be o2 sensors?

  2. Ok, upon further investigation it seems like its either lambda or injectors. My oil smells of fuel quite badly. oil was only changed a few weeks ago.

Or it's number 1 piston, get a compression test done as well.

  4. Number 1 piston? Is this a common fault?

Yes quite common, is it mapped ???

  6. Yes, it's been mapped in a former life. Not sure by who.
