At a wild guess i'd start with a dry joint on the pcb. You can give them a touch up with a soldering iron. I've fixed plasma tv's and amplifiers before now doing exactly that
Will check the connections as well. Fucked if it's a new speedo unit, mega money and will lose the mileage, unless it can be reset with Clip.
